Duncan Baker’s London Marathon 2022 raised £1611 for each of 25 local charities including Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society

November Update

Huge thanks to Duncan Baker

Jo Hurrell, Chair of Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society, says “the Society has benefited by receiving more than £3,000 from Duncan Baker’s 26 Miles for 26 Charities in 2021 and 2022. This money has been hugely beneficial as we have returned to choral singing after the pandemic and now embark on our 90th Anniversary season. It has enabled us to keep subscriptions at last year’s level and introduce a new band of 50% for under 30s singers as well as helping us celebrate our Emerald anniversary year with some wonderful concerts. We greatly appreciate all that Duncan has done for us and the other charities.”

That’s it, all the money is counted and banked. I’m absolutely delighted to announce my 2022 fundraising has raised an astonishing £49,198.

All the money is split 26 ways to local North Norfolk good causes. I could not have done it without your incredible help

October Update

Well done, Duncan Baker: our Congratulations and thanks:

We did it again: over £35,000 raised for local charities!

On Sunday 2nd October I completed my second attempt at the London Marathon having completed it last year, raising over £38,000 for local charities in North Norfolk.

This year, I once again lined up for the world’s most famous marathon with a target to raise £30,000 for local charities including £5000 for Ukrainian refugees across Norfolk, who due to Russia’s dreadful war have been forced to flee and are unable to return home yet.

I am incredibly proud to say that I completed the course in 4 hours 15 minutes 38 seconds, even slightly quicker than last year. I’m overwhelmed to say that it is looking as though we will break raising £35,000 this year for charities across North Norfolk, meaning in just two years, I have been able to raise over £70,000 for 40 different local charities

The race itself I found much harder than last year. Training was very difficult in the heatwave this summer and I was nursing a slight hamstring injury going into the race. However, nothing was ever going to stop me in helping all these charities. I would like to say thank you for the enormous outpouring of support across our communities and to each and every one of you who so generously gave me a donation to reach this magnificent figure.

September Update

Target smashed!

The original target of £26,000 has been substantially exceeded and has already reached £38,000. That means each nominated charity, including Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society, will receive at least £1400. Read all about it here

Duncan Baker says:

Having raised £38,000 for North Norfolk charities by running the London Marathon in 2021, this year I’m running the marathon once again, to raise money for 26 local charities, including Norfolk Community Foundation’s ‘Supporting Ukraine in Norfolk’ Fund.
