‘A New Dawn’ Concert Cancelled
Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society are hugely disappointed to announce that the planned concert in Cromer Parish Church on Saturday 10th July with Broadland Youth Choir has been cancelled. However, we are hoping to be able to perform John Rutter’s Mass of the Children with them at a special concert in April 2022.
Unfortunately, following an unexpected change of COVID-19 guidance by the Department of Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) on 18th May, choirs were prevented from rehearsing indoors as anticipated. This, coupled with uncertainty over a possible delay to the further relaxation of coronavirus restrictions on 21st June, meant that a July performance was no longer viable.
The choir members had so much looked forward to a return to “live” rehearsals and the possibility of a public performance but a decision has now been made to delay further rehearsals and concerts until September. SCCS would like to thank Sheringham Little Theatre for their support in providing an excellent rehearsal venue – regrettably an offer which we were unable to continue to use.
Update – now that the DCMS and our insurers have confirmed that ticketed performances and the associated indoor rehearsals may go ahead the Society are now in a position to plan an exciting programme for the 2021 – 2022 season. Watch this space for more news and announcements.
